Airport

Puerto Montt is served by El Tepual Airport which is located a few kilometers from the city. The two lines arrive at El Tepual airport National, LATAM and Sky. There are daily flights to Santiago, Balmaceda (to go to Coyhaique) and Punta Arenas; LATAM flies 4 days a week to Castro. Contact with the airlines LATAM and SKY.

Puerto Montt is served by El Tepual Airport which is located a few kilometers from the city, accsesible by means of transfers from tourist agencies, in a private vehicle, taxi, economical bus service from the terminal (They leave about two hours before the flight, in most cases).

Private Transfer

There are private transfers provided by tourism agencies and operators to move from Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas,  Chiloe island, Castro, Ancud, Pucon, and international to Bariloche Argentina among others. Take into account that they are great distances, private transfers are not the most economical means to move in Patagonia, but if the most dynamic and comfortable and convenient for groups.

 

 From Bariloche, Argentina

 

From Bariloche, take the National Route 231 to the Road of the Seven Lakes, to Villa La Angostura (82 Km + - 1 hour) and then in the direction of Paso Samore border, which is open all year round, linking the province of Neuquén with the Chilean cities of Orsorno, Frutillar, Puerto Varas and Montt port.

The distance between Bariloche and Puerto Montt is + - 315 km and the journey is made in + - 6 hours including the migratory and customs procedures.

 

From Carretera Austral

From Hornopiren it is possible to arrive by private transfer or car to Puerto Montt, after a journey of approximately + - 3 hours, which includes a 30-minute navigation through the Estuary of Reloncaví.

From Hornopiren to Puerto Montt it is 109km along the Austral Road, totally asphalted, in the middle of the way you have to board a ferry in Caleta Puelche and make 30 minutes of navigation to cross the estuary of Reloncaví, arriving until Caleta La Arena, and again by route 7 and then less 50km reach Puerto Montt.

From Chaiten you will travel the 60 km to Caleta Gonzalo, you board the Tehuelche barge, 30 minutes sailing and you will land in Fjord Largo and

From here you travel 10 kilometers by land to Caleta Leptepu where we board the Barge, we sail + - 4 hours arriving at Hornopiren.

Bus

Puerto Montt has a bus terminal of 32 000 square meters divided into three sectors destined for different trips: interregional and national to Valparaiso, Puerto Varaes, Pucon, Valdivia, Santiago, Osorno, Curicó, Talca, Concepción, Temuco, towards the Austral to Hornopiren and Chaiten road, to the island of Chiloe to Ancud, Castro; A division of rural routes and another one destined to minibuses of approach with smaller routes to 70 km.

It opens at six in the morning and closes at midnight.

 

 From Bariloche, Argentina

 

From Bariloche buses leave in the morning (Consult). Ferry

The city is the bridge of union with the Southern Chile, since from it leave the maritime connections that lead to the southern regions of Chile, Cities such as Coyhaique, Puerto Aysén, Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas, which do not have terrestrial access from Chilean territory.

The passage through Argentina or the use of barges or barges for intermediate sections, being the continental city closest to the archipelago of Chiloé,

Which is connected to the mainland by means of ferries, boats and boats of different sizes.

 

Ferry

 From Puerto Montt departs the Ferry route that connects with Carretera Austral highway is ideal for adventurers who are traveling Route 7 by car, truck, motorcycle, motorhome or bike, either on their way or back, by letting them avoid long driving hours in a different route.

Destinations: Chaiten, Quellon in chiloe island, Puerto Chacabuco, Puerto Cisnes.

In high season departs a  4  days and 3 nights ferry to Puerto Natales including accommodation and meals.
