Perito Moreno is the head of Lago Buenos Aires area, located near the southern shore of Lake Buenos Aires, The environment is shaped by the Andes and the Meseta del Lago Buenos Aires. Its population is around 4000 inhabitants. The town is located in the southern tourist corridor, an obligatory stop for travelers along National Route 40 in Argentina to or from El Calafate, El Chalten, Torres del Paine, Ushuaia, Bariloche Lago Posadas and Puerto Madryn in the Atlantic Ocean , and to or from Villa O'Higgins, Coihaique, Castro and Puerto Montt on the Carretera Austral in Chile. Located just 55 kilometers from Los Antiguos and 75km to Chile Chico, Perito Moreno is the gateway to the Cueva de las Manos, Lago Posadas, Monte Zeballos and road Austral (Chile).
